    Can't edit text with dock

I just got one of these, and I'm generally pleased with it so far. However, I find I often can't edit text. Specifically, I can't move the cursor to a point in the text in order to type or delete. Poking the screen always put the cursor in the same location, no matter where I poke, and using the arrow keys or poking again will NOT let me move it. I also can't type or delete when this happens.

I've experienced this in both the built-in browser and in Dolphin HD using text edit fields. I've also experienced this using the built-in GMail app.

Anyone else encountered this? Is there a workaround? If I can't type, this is not a very useful device.

    Thanks!

    Welcome to the forum!

I have noticed that at times when using Dophin it will type in all caps and I have to tap out of the text field and then back in to type normally, but I can always arrow around.

I am curious if your dock has the latest firmware. Go to the Settings app - About and scroll to the bottom. The last line is the Mobile Dock firmware. Latest version ends in -0213

Thanks, Frederuco. The firmware version appears to be EP101-0213.

I've had problems with Dolphin and with the GMail app. I *think* I've had the same problems with the built-in browser, but I'm not sure at the moment. There seems to be a few distinct
sets of symptoms, and I'm not sure if they're all caused by the same problem. The symptoms are:

    1) Input seems to go into a kind of "cut/paste" mode where I get a green arrow pointing to a location in the text, and I can't move it with the arrow keys. Typing does nothing when this
    happens.

    2) The cursor seems to jump from field to field in a form. For example, I enter my username, and then while I'm trying to enter my password, the cursor suddenly jumps to the
username field again and I wind up typing in there. I have disabled the touchpad, so it's not that.

    3) Sometimes I'm typing in a field, like the URL field in the browser, and suddenly everything I've type disappears and I'm back at the beginning again.

This is all VERY frustrating, as I'm sure you know.

    Thanks,
    -pd

    AHHH, I know the problem.

    "Wild Thumb Syndrome"

There are 2 cures for this.

Number 1, keep your thumbs off the touchpad when typing (hard to do, I have tried and tried)

Number 2, Top row of buttons, 4th from the left is a touchpad toggle button. Tap this to turn off the touchpad and then tap it again to turn it on when you need it
