Absolutely. You can set a PIN, Pattern or Password on the tablet. Keep in mind, this will not protect the files on the microSD, only on the internal storage. Anyone can pop this out and use it in another device.

Go to the Settings app, Location & Security and set your options from there.

Be sure not to forget your password because if you do you may end up wiping the tablet to get back into it and you will lose all the data you saved. I think there may be a way to enter your google credentials to unlock if you forget the password, but I have never gone that far to test it out.
