I still say return your unit and wait for them to come out with something beyond capacitive screen. Neural interface perhaps?

Do you know anyone else with one to compare, or maybe visit a shop to see if yours is different to the normal.

That grid is normal and just a fact with all capacitive screens. Under normal use, it's doubtful you'd ever even notice it. I only ever see it under very bright lighting conditions e.g. outside, in the car, or next to a sunlit window. Even then, it's not really objectionable.

I managed to catch a picture of it. This is a worst case scenario, I set it out under noon day sun at just the right angle and used a polarizer on my lens. In any case, this is what the grid looks like should you wish to actually compare it with yours.

    Hi funbob,

This is exactly what I was saying earlier... This grid is usually visible when the display is off and a direct light is shining over it. But on my tab it is visible on static single color backgrounds as well and that too very prominently. Anyways I'm gonna go out tomorrow to compare it with other tabs on display. Let's see what happens.

My grid isn't that visible, but there are two circles on the screen that are visible even under bad light. Then again, my TF creaks heavily on three sides on the back and front panel (duct tape is amazing) along with a few other "quirks". Still fully usable, but knowing if those circles are sensors or a defect would be comforting.

I can see my grid on white backgrounds as well. Frankly it shocked me the first time I saw it, thinking my screen was broken or something. But then I looked at the other 10" tablets at best buy (galaxy tab, acer iconia, xoom, thrive) and noticed they had grids on white backgrounds so I figured it was simply the way tablet screens are. I don't notice it as often now (had it about ~4 days).
