Has your TF replaced your laptop?

    Hey guys,

Just curious, have you guys stopped using your laptops because of the TF?

For the most part, I know I have. At first, I was a little skeptical because of the lag I was experiencing when typing using the stock browser and hardware keyboard. Luckily, I saw on XDA another user who said Opera Mobile worked lag-free so, I've been using that ever since. It's not as polished as stock and it's a little slow rendering pages but once rendered, it's trouble-free.

2nd day in the office, I've been able to open office docs, do emails, watch videos, play History Great Battles. Surf and whatnot and I didn't even have to bring a charger.

Of course, I can't do PC recording as Android has no multitrack recording software or even an interface that I can use to plug my guitar. I also can't play the super-heavy games. Basically, even with dual core, this has nowhere near the muscle of my Core i5 laptop, nor does it have the applications or peripheral support, nor does it have almost 500gigs of memory and 4 gigs of ram.

BUT, this thing cold-starts in less than 20 seconds. Doesn't die in 2 hours of heavy use. Doesn't need a plethora of anti-virus/malware and maintenance apps. Doesn't weigh a ton. Doesn't need a big bag. And I have the option splitting this in half and bringing just the part I need, the tablet.

Basically, as I'm writing this on my TF, my laptop is resting in it's bag in my house and hasn't been moved in 2 days. For work, I really don't need a more powerful device and it looks the same for play. In other words, my laptop is there for the very very serious stuff but for everything else, the Transformer can handle it.

    What about you guys?

    regards,

    Hi.

Kind of. By that I mean I don't own a laptop but, since I now have the TF & dock, there is no chance I'd invest in one. My fiance has a Windows XP netbook which OK but the TF is streets ahead, for instance she's constantly complaining (well she is a woman ) about the battery life.

    Regards, TTT.

For the most part it has replaced a laptop, with the same exception as you - I need a firewire-equipped laptop to run my DAW. Other than that, it covers all the bases to an acceptable level. I suspect that if I was into heavyweight document production, rather than minor amends and review, then I might take a slightly different view.

I leave my laptop at home but if i really need to do something heavy like programming or gaming, i'd bring my laptop. Still, I can't transition from my laptop because the moment I use my laptop back you will feel the speed power and performance. However, I am using splashtop remote to obtain "more horsepower"

Haven't touched my lap top since. Most of my daily surfing or bills, emails , etc. can be done with tf.

I am still using dolphin and the stock browser and both crash when posting replies, and although the typing lag has been greatly improved, typing on the TF can be a bit of a pain with the sensitivity of the mouse pad, so yes I still use my 6 year old dell laptop, just much less...
