    8.6.5.9 Firmware CN to WW

    Hi guys,

I got a Transformer from China a couple of days ago and I was wondering if it was possible to change the firmware to another version?
I have tried putting the WW firmware as a ZIP file on the SD card but after a few seconds I get the android logo with an exclamation mark in it.

Alternatively, is it possible to get access to the android market with the Chinese firmware? I can't seem to install any non Chinese apps!

I'm running the 8.6.5.9 firmware and Android 3.2.

    Thanks.

Hello TD and welcome to the Forum. Yes you can change to WW Firmware. It will resolve the Market issue.
Check post #4 it gives detailed instructions on how to install ww firmware. Good luck

    1. Move the zip file from the ASUS/Update folder to the root of the SD card.
    2. Renamed the zip file: EP101_SDUPDATE.zip
    3. Power down then: hold Volume Down and Power buttons until until first screen appears, then release buttons and press Volume up (hurry)
    4. Then it starts installing the update, a few minutes later the installation was complete, and voila the WW version will boot up

I'm not sure what the guy meant by moving the zip file from the folder (since I don't seem to have a ASUS/Update folder?), but I downloaded the WW firmware from the asus website, plugged in my transformer, and using it to access the SD card I put the zip file into the root directory of the SD card and tried to force an update. It progressed a little but displayed the android logo with an exclamation mark.

Did you rename the file as per the instructions?

Lets see if we can find the Update folder

    Open File Manager
    You should see /sdcard/
Scroll down and Tap the Asus Folder
You should now see the Update Folder

    Ok lets add the folder
Make sure you are at /sdcard/
Tap add folder upper right corner of the screen
    Add Asus
    Open Asus Folder
Now we need to add 2 folders
    add Update
    Add webstorage (lowercase)
    open webstorage
    add account.info
Close File Manager and Hard Reset the TF

If WW does not install. I would delete the file and download it from the Asus site again

Thanks for the info. Just to clarify: The file from the ASUS site is a zip file containing a directory called ASUS and a directory within it called Update, and within those two directories is another zip file with the firmware in. I should create the ASUS/Update directories on the internal memory (the one called sdcard) and then put the actual firmware zip file, renamed, in the root directory of the actual SD card?

I asked Fred to take a look to see if I am missing something. He's the best. Give him a few minutes to review the thread
