    Dim display

I'm hoping a setting was just changed somewhere but don't think so.

All of a sudden the display on my TF is very dim. I checked the brightness control in settings but that isn't it. I have the 3.2 update installed and everything has been great until now. I had the Google Sky Map running and set down the TF. Several minutes later I noticed that the TF hadn't gone into sleep mode and the screen was very dim.

    Any suggestions?

    Terry

When you go to Settings, then Screen, then Brightness, uncheck the automatic brightness and slide the green light all the way to the right for maximum brightness.

I'm going to start with the obvious here. Have you rebooted to see if it comes back to normal?

Sometimes the auto brightness control goes a bit wonky and taking it out of auto and putting back fixes it.

Oops....sorry, I meant to include that in my post. I have rebooted with no change in screen brightness.

I wasn't using auto brightness. Checking it, then unchecking it doesn't help, even with the brightness control all the way up. When I load something with a white background like a browser it is semi-transparent. I can see the desktop app icons through it.

Did you try doing the hard reset to see if it helps ?

Unplug the power cord and shut the unit off and Press and Hold the power button and the Down volume button together for 6-10 seconds and let them both go. You should see a little shape in the middle of the screen so just press and release the Down volume button again and let it reboot. If you own the dock be sure and do this with the dock connected.

I did a hard reset from settings. That didn't help. I can't boot into recovery. I get "!" inside a triangle.

I can't get through the hard reset. I get the RCK text and "booting recovery kernel image". Then I get the android guy with an exclamation mark and a triangle. My only option at that point to force power off and reboot.

Do you have a firmware .zip on your microSD card? It sounds like it may be trying to upgrade you.

Also, from a full power off and unplugged, try holding the power button for 20-30 seconds. Not sure if this will help, but give it a shot.

I am guessing that maybe it is a hardware issue where your backlight is not like it used to be. If this is the case, RMA to retailer or ASUS.
