Wierd mark on Screen only seen when display off

Hi i was outside in the sun today and i noticed a mark/line on the display when its off and at an angle reflecting something dark. I am pretty sure its not a scratch as it doesn't seem to be on the surface of the display someone at work told me its supposed to be there on ips displays. Does anyone know what hes talking about?

They are little squares and it is the different sections of the screen. It is normal and someone more techie than Myself can give you the limbo jumbo for it.

most likely you're just seeing the capacitive grid under the glass. But if it's a line that stands out from that, I'm not sure what to tell you...

I've got what looks like a small fleck of paint (1mm in size) under my screen, or at least I think it's under the screen. It doesn't look like dust and is visable when the screen is on or off. Think I may need to put a call into asus.

i had the same issue with particle under the screen, took it back to the store and got it replaced on the spot, I've also came across some units you can see grid under the screen and some you can't...i don't know what they are how don't like the looks of it

Think I'll do the same then - I'm surprised I didn't notice it earlier. It's anoying me now I have though

The grid pattern will be visable on all units in certain lighting, that's just the touchscreen grid - nothing to worry about.
