This is a problem I have been trying to get resolved for quite a while. My TF works just fine with my older Vizio 32" TV, but I get a blue screen with almost new 23" Vizio TV (I would have bet the newer Vizio would work since my older one did) and Samsung 24" TV's I have in my office. I also tried a HDMI to VGA with even less success (TF does not even indicate anything is attached).

I have a 46" Panasonic Plasma TV, and I don't get anything when I plug the Transformer tablet into the TV (using a mini HDMI to HDMI cable). However, when I plug my Canon EOS 5D Mark II into the TV using the same cable, I do get an image from my camera on the Panasonic TV. Given the number of people that own Panasonic TV's, and the fact that Canon can make their cameras work with the Panasonic, I think this problem is something that ASUS should address as soon as possible.

Following your Wikipedia link, it is not just fine. Type D = micro. Looks like what is needed is Type C.

    Affirmative.

    Tablets

Some Tablets, such as the Motorola Xoom, BlackBerry PlayBook and Acer Iconia Tab A500, support HDMI using Micro-HDMI (Type D) ports. Others, such as the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer support the standard using Mini-HDMI (Type C) ports. The iPad and iPad 2 have a special A/V adapter that converts Apple's data line to a standard HDMI (Type A) port. Samsung has a similar proprietary thirty-pin port for their Galaxy Tab 10.1 that can adapt to HDMI as well as USB drives. The Dell Streak 5 smartphone/tablet hybrid is capable of outputting over HDMI. Whilst the Streak uses a PDMI port, a separate cradle is available which adds HDMI compatibility.
