Cool Well....I was about to get a screen protector...but now I'm not so sure I need one!

I've always like screen protectors as a precautionary item on screen-laden technology.

After watching this video....now I'm not so sure I even need one for my ASUS Transformer:

    Bama29 and Sliceburgslim like this.

Videos like that have been floating around Youtube since the first device came out with Gorilla Glass. And there are still many screens that have been scratched either by accident or carelessness. Gorilla Glass is scratch resistant. Not scratch proof. Anything harder than glass will obviously scratch glass. Sand is a perfect example. Your call but I say they are cheap insurance.

    Every party has a pooper....

Yeah...but this is at least some good entertainment value if not anything else. As careful as I am with my gadgets...I'd only have to fear the bow and arrow risk.

Then again as you stated...screen protectors can be a wise investment.

I'd love to run that same test with an iPad...but I suspect the owner might not like the results.

I would sooner spend the money on a protective sleeve / stand and not the screen protector -- and certainly not both!

So long as you take common sense care -- like don't shove your Xacto knife down your backpack next to your tablet... your chance of getting an ugly scratch is close to nil. I bought an iPad with the protective sleeve / stand, last year and took it on a two month solo backpacking trip to Burma and Bangladesh -- went almost everywhere in crowded trains, buses, boats and cyclos -- in an unpadded, $20 bookbag style backpack -- and using it every single day. After the trip, you couldn't tell it wasn't brand new! I sold the thing on Ebay, describing it as "used but in like new condition", got almost the full price for it, plus a positive feedback that said "just as described".

So, can you get the glass scratched? Yes. But how likely with a bit of care? Quite unlikely.

One parting question: if you had applied an expensive screen protector film to your TF, would the screen survive an arrow shot?

It was meant to entertain as much as educate.

    screen protector.

I bought mine from skinomi but i bought it to cut down on finger prints and i have to say it was the best 14 spent. I had to swap out the one i installed fora replacement but it didn't cost me a thing except s/h.
Im happy with it as i dont have to wipe off the screen but once in a great while compared to before where i seemed to be cleaning finger prints at least everyday if not more.

When I purchased my Transformer last week at Best Buy, I had them put on a military grade lifetime screen protector and I'm very happy with it.
