    TF101 broken

    Hi all,

My TF101 has just broken (bought 3 yrs ago). I love my TF101.

Since I have not been updating news regarding Asus tablets, just wondering if anyone could advice a new model that has similar functions as the TF101? Maybe memo pad or prime? 16Gs would be fine under limited budget.

And I guess my docking will be wasted as it is not compatible with newer models?

    Thanks.

My apology for the post as I don't have much time to browse through previous related posts and this is a bit urgent.

If you want to stay with Android and you like the form factor take a look at the TF103C, the latest in the "budget" line of Transformer tablets. It doesn't have a dock battery though, no HDMI port and it seems to be budget in many aspects. I see it priced around $280 in the US.
I have seen the TF701, which is more in the line of succession to your trusty old 101, for under $300 at Amazon. And at that price it's a steal! I own one and adore it! Fabulous tablet! The only drawback is you have to make sure the dock (not the tablet) is a 2014 production model. Asus totally borked the 2013 docks, they tend to have lots of wobble in the dock connection and due to it disconnect issues. But the tablet is a dream to use.

Or look around for a refurbished TF101. I have seen a few advertised here and there.

Thanks for the replies. I sent the tablet in for repair and need to pay approximately US$250 to have it fixed.

Thinking if I should just get a new one...

No question about it - you could buy a brand new TF103 or TF701 or Windows T100 for at or around that price!

Sell your tf101 dock and you'll probably find your $250 saving gets $20 added to it.

The TF103 with dock is selling on Amazon.com for $249 delivered...

    Screen Size 10.1 inches
    Max Screen Resolution 1280*800 pixels
    Processor 1.33 GHz Intel Atom
    RAM 1 GB DDR3
    Wireless Type 802.11 a/b/g/n
Number of USB 2.0 Ports 1
Average Battery Life (in hours) 9.5 hours
Operating System Android 4.4 (Kit Kat)
    Item Weight 2.4 pounds
    Item Dimensions L x W x H 10.10 x 7 x 0.80 inches

    It's a "no brainer"...

    Thanks Janner.

I understand that the TF103 does not have an hdmi port as the TF101 does. Just wondering if anyone has tried to use usb to hdmi to connect the tablet to TV? Does it work?

If it doesn't have HDMI then you won't be able to use that - but it doesn't matter. Investigate Chromecast (probably best) and/or MiraCast and/or WiDi (wireless direct). You can do it all without cables nowadays - you don't need HDMI now.
