Sandisk 64Gb microSD card not recognised

Folks, wonder if you can help me. I've just bought a Scandisc 64Gb microSD card for my TF101 (old skool!) but the tablet isn't recognising it. I've tried quick formatting it and also slow (full) formatting in Windows before using it but to no avail. Whenever I look in Settings or Astro it's "empty" even though there is a movie on it. MX Player doesn't find the movie either.

Any suggestions? Or is the card just not compatible with my elderly unit?

Have you looked at storage in settings to see if you can mount it?

If it really is a Scandisk, and not SanDisk, that could be a problem. j/k

    Sorry, yeah, SanDisk.

The system says that it's mounted - then I first insert it the "scanning card" icon pops up, and in settings it says "unmount". It just doesn't seem to see anything that's on there. System says there's 0.00b data on there, and Astro says it's "empty".

It sounds like it IS recognizing it. Is it appearing as external storage in file manager?

Sorry File Manager is in Astro File Manager, or...? Interestingly, in is recognised by file manager within Teamwin and you can see the movie file that I have put on it. But that's the only place on the device you can see the file.

Your first post said your tablet wasn't recognizing the SD card. Are you now saying that Astro can see a movie file on it? /Confused.

Sorry for the confusion. The tablet seems to know that there is a card in the slot, but the Storage area in settings says that there is 0.00b used and Astro says that the card is empty, even though there is a movie on it. When I go into Teamwin and look at the card in there I CAN see the movie file. But of course I can't do anything with it because I'm in recovery!

More clear now, thanks. I think you need to test the card in a PC using a card reader. My guess is that it could be corrupted.

Thanks Leeshor! I popped it in the card reader in my PC and the computer found the card and the movie file on it. However, then I first inserted the card, instead of just trying to import whatever was on the card (as Windows does) I got a window up basically saying "scan and repair (recommended) or continue as usual?".

Sounds like the card is broken?

    Yep.

Download and run h2testw -- do a google search. It is a utility that will check your card for errors. It sounds like it has gone bad.
