The TF101 will most likely not receive any official updates. Your best bet with a TF101 is to use easyflasher to install TWRP and then flash a custom ROM like KatKiss which is on 4.3.

If you wait for an official version. I think you will be waiting forever.

Agreed, Asus has not released any firmware updates in over a year for the TF101.

If you want to get a newer version of android, see here to install TWRP: Frederuco's Guide to Root and ROM the TF101

Then I have two guides to the KatKiss ROMs here:
    Android 4.2.2
    Android 4.3

Beyond that, there is not much you can do. The biggest issue with JellyBean is that the Tegra 2 chip does not support NEON instructions. Most of the google apps (GAPPS) that are used in JellyBean use NEON instructions and it can be tricky for the OEMs to get them working smoothly. Some of the ROM developers have spent time to fix these issues in their spare time, but Asus never bothered to work that hard at it apparently.

Will any of these work for a TF201? Which is the easiest for a newbie who never rooted anything.

I'd also like to root my Nexus one if that matters on which to use.

    Thanks

Nope. Each device is unique and you will need to figure out each one separately.
