    Random Screen Timeouts

I don't know if anyone else gets this, but sometimes I'm reading through Tapatalk or reading an ebook, and the screen just randomly times out every five seconds or so. This is getting a little aggravating.. I press the power button once, and I hear the lock sound; and then I press it again to return to the lockscreen. Any ideas? Please help!!

I haven't experienced that issue. When is the last time you have shut it down and restarted?

I would look for a suspect app. You may have a defective device but before I went thru all the trouble of returning it, I would do a reset and run it with the stock apps to see if the problem is still there.f it goes away then add back your apps 1-2 at a time and test it pretty good before adding more. If you figure off the culprit please let us all know so we can stay away.

Okay, well. It turns out it really was a defective device. Went back to the store, showed them the problem even after a restore, and they immediately gave me a new device along with my keyboard and a nice leather case that I'll talk about in the accessories.

Haha. Thanks. I haven't posted up my case on the forums yet, but I'll be sure to post it up when I get home tonight.

One more user with the same issues... I am now on android 3.1. The issue happens for me even after a new reset with no SD card in the tablet and no dock.
The issue got progressively worse for me. When the timeout sessions are starting, at time, the power button does not work at all for me (cannot start it or shut it down) - I wonder if this it a hardware issue or a software one for me. I have opened a case with Asus.

I just started having this problem too. Screen went blank, then I tried pressing power button several times and TF wouldn't respond. I even tried holding power button for a few seconds. then after I kept it held down, it started from boot process.

mine does this as well, oddest thing is it mainly does it outdoors, today i was trying to use wifi analyzer outside on miami beach and every time i unlcoked the screen it went blank, so i clicked power button and i heard it lock, another press of lock button and i am back at lock screen, over and over again, now in hotel room its working fine.... this is very interesting to me as the only thing that would make it do that could be the light sensor.. i think if i took it back to Worst Buy, i dont think i could get it to happen again...
