Cannot copy files from USB to SDCard

I just got the keyboard dock from my tablet, since copying a movie file through my WiFi was taking up to 30 min, for a simple 700MB file.

Now that I have USB capabilities I assumed it would be no biggie to copy files from USB to SDCard on the tablet. Well I was wrong, very very wrong.

I cannot even copy more than 10% of the file, before it fails. This happens with the pre-installed system browser, with ES File Explorer and also with AndroZip. I even tried to Zip the movie files before moving them over as that would have an impact but it keep failing to copy them to the SD Card.

So what is wrong? It worked with Wifi (most of the time) and I had lots of movies at some point. Now directory is cleaned, there is definitely space on the SD Card, but it doesnt work. What am I doing wrong?

Where is the copy failing, from the PC to the USB or from the USB to the TF?

    How large are these files?

Is the USB stick still accessible after the transfer fails?

The copy fails from USB to TF. It works without problems from PC to USB.

    Files are about 700MB each.

Yes everything works and is accessible after fail. It just fails without any reason. I dont understand why, I feel like I tried everything.

This is a usb stick? How is it formatted? Are you connecting through one of the regular two usb ports on the dock?

Yes its a USB stick. Its formatted with FAT. I connect it through one of the USB ports in the TF.

The thing is that I already copied files from the USB to TF. But those were XLM files and PDF files, so much smaller in size than the movie files.

I copied the small document files over with no problem and was able to open them on the TF. When it comes to the large movie files it fails at around 10%. This happens regardless of trying to copy over the raw movie file or zipping/raring them.

I read that Android 3.2 will make the SD cards read only.

So you might as well change your work flow to write PC to SD card.

Hmm making the SD card read only means what for other devices? I cant believe that this feature, as simple as this cant work.

People are really getting confused by this. The 3.2 update will not allow APPLICATIONS to write to the SD Card. But when you plug the tablet into your PC, you will be able to copy files to the SD Card just like always.

Because tablets are not so short on memory as phones, this actually make sense. Use you internal memory for applications and their data, then use your SD card for media (music, picture, movies, etc.)
