TF201 keep it or not? ?

Hi all! I need your precious advise!

I was doubting between an ipad 2 or an asus tf201 prime.

Finally I bought the tf201 prime, but it was the last one in store and was the exhibit one that everybody tries. I have 15 days to try it and if I am not happy I can return it at no cost.

This is where I need your help. Overall I am very happy, just worried about the battery. I am afraid it might be worn out:

I get about 6 hours battery life on the tablet with nonstop use on wifi, browsing, installing apps etc.

After battery is depleted, I used the full charged dock to recharge it. Leaving it overnight with the tablet off, the next morning was charged up to 80%

Is this normal?? Should I keep the tablet or buy a new one?? (I just saw same price for new one in another store, but if this battery life is normal not worth the hassle). Thank you guys!!

    Txyk

There are a lot of variables here. When you say "off" I assume you powered down. The 6 hours may not be all that bad but again there are a ton of variables that may or may not improve that figure.

how about the Dock charging the tablet for 80% only? I supposed at least it would be one full charge :/

And yes I ment completely turn off the tablet.

And thank you very very much for your help!

Here is a link to the official Asus position on battery life...ASUSTeK Computer Inc. -Support- Repair Information

In it, they state, " Lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries typically have a lifespan of between 300 and 500 cycles. With moderate use, Lithium-ion batteries can be expected to deliver around 80% of their original capacity after 300 cycles or about one year of use."

As I have often said, li-ion batteries have a limited number of recharge cycles - to quote Asus, that probably means 500 full deep cycles. Again, to quote Asus, this means if you use your tf for its full battery length every day & are only able to charge it once a day (a full deep cycle) then at the end of 10 months (300 days) your battery will only have 80% of its original capacity. By 17 months (500 days) it may need replacing.

With that in mind, all I will say is that I wouldn't buy the particular example you have, nor would I advise you to keep it. The length of time it has been on display & the abuse the battery has suffered during that time would make it a no go area for me. The batteries are too crucial & they are expensive to replace. But that, of course, is your decision.
