FINALLY - July 8, 2011 - ASUS Transformer hitting more Retail Shelves

I just got back from the nearby Best Buy, as well as the Target store.

For the first time - BOTH had ASUS Transformers in stock and out on display.

BB had the 16GB and 32GB models on display, while Target had just the 16GB model. Neither had the Keyboard Docks, but I was told they would both be getting them in "some time soon".

Both stores had over 50 in stock each.

Despite hundreds of thousands of these units sold online to date...these are the first ones I've seen in retail stores in 3 states (and I've been looking for them intentionally).

Neat! Finally I can tell people who've asked where I got mine, where to see it in a store. (Best Buy around here). I do find it strange that Staples USA has never sold the transformer, but Staples Canada has all along.

That is GREAT news! Thank you so much for letting us know! I have had that same situation where people ask me where I have gotten it and they wanna see it in store. I then have to tell them how hard they are to get and that no stores have them in stock! But not anymore

When I was looking for mine the people at Best Buy looked at me like I was nuts 3-4 weeks ago. Glad to see they are finally on board!

I was at my local Best Buy last weekend, I was surprised to see a TF on display, no other stock on hand, but with about a dozen Docking stations sitting right next to it. In my opinion, this device is the best bang for your buck.

It suddenly hit the UAE market about a month ago, and having read about its unavailability in US and Europe on various forums, I was worried stock might run out before my planned purchase date of 2nd July. At that time major electronics retailers here didn't have it and hadn't even heard of it. The stores that had it had plenty of stock, both 16 and 32 GB, with and without the dock. I got mine on the date I wanted (32GB with dock--price here is AED 2699 or USD 733.5) and right now the market is inundated with it. One major retailer kept running out and replenishing over and over again, so it's obviously going like hot cakes.

Prior to buying, it was a major internal tussle for me to choose between iPad 2 and Transformer, often vacillating between the two; but now I'm beyond certain the Transformer was the right choice and I believe it's streets ahead of iPad in the number of things you can do with it.

Since I had to run around already this morning anyway...figured I'd check back at those original 2 stores.

The Best Buy display had been updated with better pricing signage, and I was told they sold 10 units yesterday, and also got in a shipment of another 48 - 62 in stock total there. At target...I could only see in the case (no store staff to help)...seemed to have about 8-10 units left.

With all the hype around some other models (all of which i have hands-on time with over 4 hours each for comparison)...its nice to see the best of the Android tablets finally getting some public visibility.
