    Charging..

    Hello,

If you charge the battery from the transformer, will it also charge the keyboard? And if you are charging the keyboard, will it charge the transformer.

If you connect the ASUS charger cable to PC USB, will it charge the units?

Anyone came up with a car charger that works correctly?

    Thanks,

ps: I love the widgets showing the status of tab and dock -- nice!

    Car cgarger

    Hello,

I noticed on ebay a car charger for the transformer for $19 called "Griffin 2 DUO USB CAR CHARGER Asus transformer tf101".

Anyone has tried this? It charges via 2 USB ports @ 5Volts each!. What cables should be used?

This unit suppose to work for IPAD, etc as well.

    Regards,

wouter - if you are charging the tablet portion the keyboard will not charge as the charger port is also the port that is used when docking. When the keyboard is connected the charger connected to the keyboard will charge the keyboard. Any time the TF is docked the keyboard will transfer its charge to the tablet (down to about 3%). So, with that being said that when docked it will charge the keyboard and dock simultaneously.

Some users have reported thattheir charger overheated when dual charging and shuts itself off and recommend charging separately. I have not noticed it shutting off but it does get quite warm. I also do not charge it when I am using it very often so the unit not being in use may lighten the load slightly on the power block.

As far as the car charger or a standard USB 2.0 port - most people have-not had great luck as the TF needs 10 V to start the charge. I have not tried it myself but I do know that a standard USB 2.0 extension cable will not work but a USB 3.0 extension cable is required to charge from the factory power brick if you want a longer cable.
