Question Is it worth just buying a usb 3 pci card?

    Hey guys,

I'm at that awkward situation where the original asus wall wart has gone out of the picture.

I've ordered a new one but it will take awhile.

So here's my question, if I get a usb 3.0 pci card, would that charge it just as quick the traditional wart or as slow as the usb 2.0?

    Thanks a lot.

USB 3.0 won't gain much if anything as far as charging speed goes. But as you already know, the 2.0 port will charge it given enough time.

    leeshor is correct.

Although the ASUS Wall Wart uses the USB 3.0 pins to detect the Eee Pad, it does not output a standard voltage.

ASUS Wall Wart: 15 VDC @ 1.2 Amps
    USB 2.0 Port: 5 VDC @ 0.5 Amps
    USB 3.0 Port: 5 VDC @ 0.9 Amps

Get another Asus-brand wal wart. In fact, I recommend getting two-- I have two myself. Many reasons for owning two, including being able to tell quickly if the wal wart is at fault, or the tablet or the cable itself.

If you get the Asus package? You get another cable too.
TF101 B70 series, USA running Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3, rooted. 64gb microSDXC, keyboard dock with 32gb microSDHC in an adapter
Dell Streak 7 running Honeycomb 3.2, rooted. 64gb SDXC. Mainly used as a music player.
Virgin Mobile Optimus Slider, rooted -- frequently used as WiFi hotspot. 16gb microSDHC.

    Thanks

Shame about the speed, though and no, I should've got that package or got 2 but awwh well, I'll just wait for it to arrive.

This seems useful but I wouldn't want to run any battery risk. [GUIDE] The $6 way to charging your EEE Pad on your computer - xda-developers

But if anyone else finds it they might be more adventurous than me.

    Thanks a lot.

Curiously, what happened to the wall wart? Is it still intact and just stopped charging the Transformer?

I dont know if anyone knows but I use the AiCharger on my ASUS motherboard, it allows you to charge devices 3x quicker with USB3.0, Its pretty quick, and very handy if you have an ASUS motherboard, Im pretty sure it works on any phone, tablet etc

I have tried the AiCharger software but it does not work with the TF101. A number of guys in the office have used the AiCharger s|w with success on various M/Bs but it has only worked with iPads. I saw on a forum a usb to female 12v adapter being used and have set myself up with one. I use a 12v supply from an external HDD and the adapter to charge my tab.

The AiCharger on my ASUS motherboard won't work with my TF101. I think it is strictly for iStuff. Which is rather sad, considering it is an ASUS board and ASUS pad!
