Post ASUS to Release Eee Pad Transformer Successor in October

DIGITIMES reports that ASUS will load its upcoming tablet (which we shall refer to as the “ASUS Eee Pad Transformer 2″ for now, for lack of an official name) with the quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor and the unifying version of the Android operating system–Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.

    Already a successor???

If my TF becames "obsolete" after 6 months...and during those months it has been valuable only in the view of future upgrades (Accessories, new OS, bugfixes, etc etc)...then...

...how to say...i don't think that ASUS can really create a good fan group that can support the TF success.

I think they should just focus on the TF as is...and then in the next year point on a successor...otherwise i should start thinking that TF2 will become useless after 6 bugged months and so on until TFn, with 1<n<Inf!!!!

Asus don't have a choice. All their competitors will be putting out Tegra 3 devices, and Asus will get left behind if they don't. Also, Apple will be churning out the iPad 3 which most likely will have similar or greater performance to Tegra 3.

That's life on the 'bleeding edge'. Enjoy your device for the capabilities you bought it for - and buy apps so developers keep making products for it for some time to come.

If they decide to pull another device out their corp behinds it would be irrelevant. We are at the beginning of what is to be the end of the laptop and or potentially desktop. Eventually everything will be on cloud eliminating the need for high end hardware and making way for the beginning of online monthly fees. I will stick to my tablet for as long as I can I don't believe any upcoming product will produce significant change. Take a look at the Ipad no huge differences and all apps seem to work on both so why upgrade? for speed? I think for mobile computing the Ipad was fast enough and so will the TF. So in conclusion I don't see the point in an upgrade unless mines breaks or something revolutionary happens. Wait a couple of years and then you will see things really pick up and tablets will do a lot more but as for now we are at the beginning stage of the process.

Like everything else you buy when you buy and not worry if the next greatest thing comes out in 3-6 months. It will still work as well as when you bought it right?

That's the way to think, and if they're only $400 maybe I'll buy the new one too.

I personally prefer getting 1 right before moving to 2 and if they don't then there's a chance that I'll move on to 2 as well. Not their 2 but a 2nd company!

If your tf1 is still in good condition when the time comes, figure you could get $200.

New tf2 cost $400 maybe? Or $200 oop. Count me in....

I really can't understand the guys at ASUS, sure the push for Tegra 3 (Kal El, the one TF2 will be equipped with) is done by NVIDIA- either you keep up with the maker of the processor, or get left behind in this business, but ASUS still hasn't answered to the short supply of TF1, nevertheless a 3G version, the slider? There is always the saying of, before your run, you gotta' know how to walk - hope ASUS doesn't make this mistake with their products and their TF community.

Those of you kind of pissed off at ASUS (including me...) NVIDIA CEO has stated that they will push out a new processor every 6-9 months - Forget about TF2, where is TF3 with the Wayne Processor!?!

It appears that some folks are suffering from a case of Premature Adulation here.

It'll be a while before production units with Tegra 3 are on the parket, and in the mean time, Transformer is doing just fine. Other than the faster clock speed (which can nearly be emulated with a root of TF1), the differences will not be all that profound to have to suddenly rush out and migrate to another unit. In face, I suspect most people won't.
