    Asus Transformer Charging question

I ordered an Asus Transformer and keyboard dock, which are coming tomorrow. So I have some questions about the Transformer before I use it.

Is the battery for the tablet and/or keyboard fully charged out of the box? Or should I charge them first?

I heard that the keyboard does not come with a charging cable. So I assume that you connect the tablet's charge cable to the dock to charge the keyboard.

So when I'm at home I plan to leave the keyboard connected at my desk to be used as a charging station for my tablet.
My question is, will the tablet itself take longer to charge on the dock as opposed charging the tablet by itself? And If I plan to use the keyboard as a charging station at home, then is the battery meter for the keyboard and tablet separate?

Welcome to the forum mox!!! Glad to have you!!! I can't speak for the keyboard dock as I don't own one. But even though my TF came with a charge OOTB I still gave it a full charge before using it.

Thanks for the replies. I think when I first get the Transformer and dock that I"ll attach both and charge at the same time for time saving's sake.

For anyone who owns the dock, does closing the transformer in "laptop mode" make it go in stand by mode kind of like how the Smart Cover does for the Ipad?

Yes when closed it goes to sleep mode, when open wakes right up. Also get the dual battery widget in the android market so you can see the charge on both the tab and doc. I keep the tab and doc together and charge the dock. When done they both are charged.

Awesome, thanks. I'm a student so I got free Amazon prime (free 2 day shipping). When the Transformer 16 GB was $399 I immediately snagged it and I'm glad I did. (Amazon ran out a few hours later). Only thing I regret is not spending 4 bucks for one day shipping lol CAN'T WAIT.

When you say "gave it a full charge", does that mean until it hit 100% or did you do the whole 8 hour charge like the instructions recommend. (which seems unnecessary if it has hit 100% within a few hours).

    Thanks

It is best to give it some time beyond 100% to get the best life from a Lithium Ion Battery. How long? I did mine for the full 8.
