    Classroom set of transformers

I teach middle school science and math. My principal wants to order a class set of ipads. I have one chance to convince her that the transformer is a better choice. I need good ideas to allow the students to interact with each other using the transformer and how I can use it in the classroom. Keep in mind free stuff is always attractive and if I can figure out a way to use it with the promeathean board it would be a huge plus.

Cost can be a big deciding factor in the education system...
    30 iPads @ $500 = $15,000
    vs.
    30 Transformers @ 400 = $12,000

Good luck! Apple has targeted schools for a year and a half now. They have developed apps for that (no pun intended)! And honestly you've gotta admit at this point that the ipad and ios are well developed while the Transformer and Honeycomb are going thru some major growing pains!

It's probably a lost cause trying but I would much rather have the transformer in the class. Apparently 30 ipads will set the school back $440 each.

I don't want to talk down the Transformer because I love it too. But it seems the way the quality control has been lately I'd be worried that some would be defective and the school would then have to deal with that. IPad may be a better choice. I think you could get 30 of them with no issues. And they are so easy to use the students won't have to think. I'm not discouraging thinking among our students (God knows they need it) but there is definitely a learning curve when working with the Transformer. Good luck. It would be nice if the principal broke from the norm and challenged the students with the Transformer. Let us know.

    @ OP:

The least you want to do is be held responsible for a bad choice, if you were to go with the TF for a classroom environment. Sure, they will save in terms of money, but realistically no gadget is prone to defects, wear-tear and accidents. ASUS was really bad at dealing with my slightly dented TF101 (if they had given a longer wire - that wouldn't have happened), they simply said warranty does not cover it, despite it falling under their eee netbook domain, which they have a strong warranty coverage :S. Apple has really good coverage with warranty but make sure your principal gets in contact with Apple and talks about your order and what they can provide (esp. warranty!).

In today's work stability, bug-free and the amount of applications that can run on any platform is the way to go, especially for corporate and learning environments.

P.S. I don't mind going back to learn math and science in middle school if I can do it on a tablet

Ipad fits the needs of newer type of people, it is the better choice seeing the Transformer is for people that are more experienced type of users. So unless you know your kids are all experienced with tablets they will not like the transformer, the Ipad is for beginners.

Android if for more advance users, simple as that. Apple makes an idiot proof product. Though while making an idiot proof product you loose a lot of options. For a class setting your better of with the ipad.

Which we all hate to admit, but moose is correct.
