    connecting non wi-fi printers

Many people have already laser printers and inkjet printers of older generation with USB connection (non wi-fi) and would like to know if these can be used with Asus.

I just wonder if it is possible to use non wi-fi printers

    1. with Asus alone through main Docking connector to USB cable and also
    2. with Dock USB port directly.

It is quite logical that one doesn't have to invest again and again in hardware and have the house/office full of outdated/obsolete peripherals.

Well if you're using a windows computer, you can use Google's cloud print. That way you can print via any device anywhere to said printer. I myself use a combination of Google's Cloud Print and a nice piece of android software called Canon EPP (http://goo.gl/kiSMD) for my Canon Pixma MG5220.

I'm really not keen on using cloud print. Broadband here is very slow - and it seems crazy to send the file out onto the net, and then back. I just want to print to one of my printers.

Well the only other option is to scour the android market and the interwebs to see if someone has created an app to print to the type of printer you have. if they haven't, then the only other option is the cloud print. And as far as connections go, it doesn't require much, as it was initially built to also accommodate mobile 3g lol. Try it out and see how fast/slow it is.

yes, cloud print is it's own separate entity, and it's only requirement is that the computer connected to the printer stay powered on.

Google's Cloud Printing works great. I use it on my EVO phone and installed it on my TF as well..I have an older LaserJet 5, yeah I know it's old, but it works on my network with all the computers & kids in the house and I don't have to pay a fortune for ink when my daughter prints everything

For myself, I really want the Transformer to be a true Laptop replacement unit. Obviously at this point these units are not quite there yet. Things like printing via USB, to me, are pretty dang basic and Google/Android really need to work on the OS being able to utillize ANY non wirelss printing option. I suppose eventually we will have dual-boot Win 7/Android tablets/netbooks powerful enough to do the all-in-one stuff I am talking about. But they aren't a reality yet. Maybe Kal El, or I've even heard that an Atom based Android tablet is a possibility. I think the Transformer dock idea is awesome, but to replace a true laptop it isn't quite up to par yet.
