    Something's not right (ICS Installation)

So, I've saved the installation zip file to my microsd card, which I then inserted into the tablet. Immediately after this I get the triangle with an exclamation mark in it in the bottom right-hand corner, which I naturally press. The tablet then goes through what appears to be the standard procedure and reboots, resulting in the Android appearing with the moving gears and the progress bar. However, after about 2 seconds of moving cogs, they are replaced by another triangle with an exclamation mark; at which point I have to either wait for it to restart itself or press the power and down volume buttons to start it myself.

I am running the ltest version of Honeycombe and have downloaded the right SKU upgrade file. I have even done a factory reset, not to mention all the usual cold boots, wiping of CMClient etc. All with the same outcome.

In another thread GoodIntentions has come up with a very long-winded way of installing the update, which I have no doubt would work, but why would I need to do this? I haven't rooted my tablet at all, and apart from installing generic, Android Market apps, the tablet is as Asus intended it.

Oh, and previous updates have work fine.

    Thoughts?

What is your current firmware build? Many users have not been able to get the ICS update to work unless they are on 8.6.5.21 (the latest Honeycomb).

It is all sorted now: I went through the process Good Intentions described and it worked. I am loving the speed and fluidity of ICS

    The build is WW_epad-9.2.1.11

I'd be interested to know why I had to go through that process , though.

Simple. There was something wrong with your stock recovery. The updates are done by the recovery. With regard to software, there are a myriad of things that can be wrong. This is why we have bugs.

From now on, you do not have to go through that process again. By forcing the ICS installation, you've now a new recovery that came with the ICS package. You shouldn't have any problem with future firmware updates.
