    PC tethering but no WIFI

    Hey all,

Anyone know a way to tether through USB for the internet on a TF101? Wifi is all locked down with DHCP IP address allocations etc, so the only way to get on the internet via my PC is direct USB internet sharing, i tried PDANet, seemed to almost work. Looked like it was doing all the right things, but on the table when i enabled USB connection it just didnt access the net. Anyone know a way to do it? or a how to guide?

    Cheers.

Hi Scooter, sounds like you're looking for a wired solution to get your TF101 hooked up -- don't know if this will help, but have you given Connectify (Your Hotspot, Your Way - Connectify) a shot? It will allow you to share your PCs internet connection regardless of how the PC is connected, wifi or ethernet. The other option is that it seems an ethernet-to-USB adapter will work on the TF101, but in that case you'll need an ethernet source nearby.

been using connectify for about 8 months now. its great. i use it at work to pickup a wifi signal across the street (with permission) and have my junk notebook rebroadcast it locally as most devices will not pick up the wifi due to its low strength.

Install PdaNet Tablet on both your phone and TF101. Install Foxfi on your phone. All are free. Launch Foxfi and set up your SSID and password. Tap activate WiFi Hotspot on Foxfi. Then select the SSID and connect on TF101, entering your password. Works awesome over Verizon Wireless.

Many users have had luck since getting ICS to use a USB LAN dongle, heck, even the Apple USB LAN adapter is reported to work.

This also works on the Prime.

Thanks for the tip -- unfortunately I couldn't get Foxfi to work using the Droid 3 -- got the Verizon "buy a hotstop plan!" warning on both my PC and tablet. Never really got PDANet to work either, though old fashioned Bluetooth tethering with the Droid (to the TF101) works super!

Lol slightly getting off topic, but thanks all ive had a look at akl the options provided i prob should have mentioned, my comp doesnt have a a wifi nic, cable only, so things like conectify dont work cause i cant share my adapter. I straight out need a usb solution.. or a second nic. Im getting the dock this week so i might look at the usb/rj45 solution alot of people are seeing. Cheers for the heads up all
