Question Best Way to Manually Update TF101 to ICS?

I'm still not able to get OTA update to ICS, so I'm downloading it and will install it manually via SD card. I just got the TF so I don't really have that many apps on it, so I figued I'd do this:

    1) factory reset in Honeycomb
    2) don't add any other apps or choose Google Account
    3) stick in SD card with update
    4) run the update
    5) factory reset in ICS

Does this seem like the most bulletproof way to avoid any issues with ICS?

Assuming you actually mean the micro SD card then you sound good to go!

    Hi,

That sounds like the best plan, but may not be 100% if what I have read about a Tegra patch being on the way soon to fix a few problems, but mine is fine though.

Please report back how it goes.

    Thanks

OK, so I downloaded the version that is for my TF, US_epad-user-9.2.1.11.zip. Factory reset my TF. Didn't configure it at all. Put it into the microSD on the root. Clicked on the triangle to update. Rebooted...got the green Android guy...and then an immediate triangle on the center of the Android's belly. After a bit, it rebooted, and I got this message:

    System Update
    System update failed. (2)
    Unknown error.
System is updated to previous configuration.

I bought this tab from Walmart, one of their refurbs. My build number is HTK75.US_epad_8.6.5.19-20111107.

What do you think might be causing this? I just tried it again, but same error. The ZIP file is good -- it tests fine. Tried it with another microSD (8GB, FAT32), but same problem.

Folks, I did get it to work -- I updated to the next version of Honeycomb and then applied the ICS. Everything looks good -- I like what I see. If I encounter any issues, I'll let you know.

^Thanks, that answered my question on another thread. I need to update to Honeycomb #21 before updated to ICS. You probably saved me some time and frustration.

Glad I could help. Last night, I shut off wifi and closed the lid on the TF (I have it in my dock). The battery level was at 100% for both. This morning, I open it back up, and the battery in the dock is down to 58%! This is horrible for standby IMHO. Is this ICS's handywork?

Also -- while I was writing this post in Dolphin, the page all but disappeared except for this dialog box where I'm typing the message. Another ICS gift, I presume. I have a feeling there are lots of bugs in this thing to still work out.
