How do I initiate voice input on the keyboard dock with ICS?

I got my dad a transformer with dock.
He is a bad typer so the voice input would be great but I cannot figure out how to access it from the hardware keyboard.
Is there a shortcut or something he doesn't have to have the software keyboard opened as well?

    Thanks in advance.

Not 100% sure but I think he'll have to touch the microphone next to the google icon in the upper left corner of the display.

Yes, but when he is writing an email, and he wants to use voice input, there is no microphone for him to touch.

Go to Settings> language & inputs>Google voice input and check it

When in any app with text input, like composing an email.
tap the screen to bring up the keyboard,
then there is a small keyboard icon on the right hand side of the notification bar,
Tap that and choose, Google Voice Typing.

When docked to the keyboard, tapping the screen will not bring up the on screen keyboard. While DOCKED click anywhere that you can input text, then you should see a tiny keyboard icon near the notification area and the clock on the bottom right of the screen. Click on that and then set the "use physical keyboard" from "on" to "off". This should bring up the on screen keyboard next time you click in an empty text field; then with the onscreen keyboard displayed click the microphone button (located right beneath the left shift) and start talking!

By the way, setting the "use physical keyboard" to OFF JUST makes the onscreen keyboard pop up, you can still use the physical keyboard.

I have tried both google voicetyping and the other besides asus keyboard typing. I get a warning to keep asus keyboard to maintain hardware compatibility and only an OK button. when I click it it still has no popup KB and no mic. I only get the popup when undocked and then the mc is there.

Thanks for this info, I was looking for the same functionality for my husband who writes stories, but is a horribly slow typist. Question....is there a time limit? Other apps we've found for this limit him to talking for just 3 minutes, then it shuts off.
