    Question Battery life vs. iPad

    Hi all

I can *just* get through the day with a full charge (ex keyboard).

My friends with iPads claim they run more than a week easily with an iPad.

Is this true? How can Android tabs come so short on battery life in comparison?

Ipad claim 10 hours, in reality my colleagues with ipads fare no better than me, when i use my dock there is no contest. Infact 2 colleagues have sold ipads and bought TF.

I have a family member with an I pad 2 and they get no more than 7-8 hours, so I think they are lying.

The iPad owners may not be lying. Why would they want to turn them on in the first place?

It is true the ipad handles standby better and you can go a few days on it if you hardly use it, but you could do the same with the TF (without dock since it has a batt draining issue). I used my TF and dock almost the whole time on a 12 hour trip and still had around 20% left on tablet at the end so it does very well, no worries.

Being fair I just sold my ipad 2 and i ran it like a dog just like i do my Transformer and when they advertize 10 hours they arent joking! I had the original ipad for a year and i literally charged it every night because i had it on that much and the great thing is that even after a year i never noticed any difference in battery loss! Without the dock the ipad 2 wins, not by much but it wins. I just hope that 6-8 months from now that we are still getting good battery life .

PS: I corrected the thread title.

I also have both an Ipad1 and Asus TF and I can say that the difference is horrible ! For the same using type of task and time, put the screen light on maximum and wifi on, I only have to charge my Ipad once a week where as Asus TF has be charged everyday ! I can say that my Ipad has really got 10 hours of use where as my asus only have a couple of hours (without dock).

If you check carrefully the specifications of each product, you will see that Ipad has got 10 hours with wifi ON and Asus TF has got 9h with wifi OFF.
The problem on Asus TF is that Wifi eat battery a lot ! Let it ON all the night and you will loose almost 50% of the charge even if it's power OFF. I don't have this problem on my Ipad even if Wifi is On and the power is Off. Very strange on the Asus TF with wifi consumption.

Even with the dock connected, I'm sure battery will last fastly than an Ipad with the same use.

For the battery problem, I will definitely go for an Ipad. I'm afraid that none of Android tablet can beat an Ipad for that point. So far. But the problem is that Ipad is not compatible with Flash.

And without wifi on, battery on Asus TF is quite good, near that an Ipad.

So, it will depends of your needs ....
