Latch on keyboard dock - problem? Or normal?
I recently replaced my keyboard dock with a new one, and have noticed a possible issue. I don't know if this is normal or not.
When I disconnect my dock, probably 70% of the time, the latch snaps back to the right (closed) position. If I'm not careful, what it results in is me trying to reconnect the two, and the tablet just bounces off the latch. Then I get frustrated, go and look, and realize the latch has closed, so I open it, and reconnect. Sometimes when I open the latch again, it "pings" and closes again, before I can get the tablet docked again.
My previous dock, this never happened. When I disconnected the tablet, the dock would remain in the "open" condition.....so it was always ready to accept the tablet docking. The only time the latch would close on my first dock was if I actually pushed the slider button thingy.
Has anyone else seen this? Was my first dock defective? Is the behaviour of the second dock normal? Or is it a sign maybe there's something wrong with my second dock?

This is a mechanical weakness. I say weakness because it's not a defect and it's certainly not normal either. Either get into the habit of making sure the latch is on the left before inserting the TF or RMA it.

Ok, thanks for weighing in.
Given it's a replacement, I'm still within the 30 day exchange period....maybe I'll try showing it to the guys at Future Shop. They're usually pretty good. I took a Samsung monitor back about 8 times over a 2 year period following purchase when I had problems with it.

There is a mechanism in the latch that holds it to the left side after you unlock it. For some older docking stations (that were manufactured back from may to july), it looked like the mechanism had worn out and so the latch would switch to the lock position without a TF. However, this is very rare. I've worked with a few dozen units, and have only observed it in a couple.
If it is within your return/exchange period, definitely get another one.
