    Docking the Keyboard

    Hey folks,

I have noticed that at times, my Transformer does not detect my keyboard. I ran the update so I am not sure why this is.

I do recall seeing several references to the lock needing to be all the way to the right in order for it to be properly seated. On mine, I push the slide to the left and seat the keyboard, when I push down it seems to fall in place but the slide only goes to the middle and not far right. Getting it over there requires pushing down harder and manually sliding it over.

Is this normal? Could this be the problem? Seems like a lot of fussing IMO.

    Cheers!

I was having the same problem docking mine. I discovered if I had the hinge on the keyboard at a 90 degree angle to the keyboard when I dropped the Transformer in, it only required a light press to connect and the lock went all the way to the right by itself. If I try to connect with the hinge back more than 90 degrees, such as you might use it to read, then it requires a very firm press to connect. The lock then never seems to go all the way to the right by itself and requires manually sliding over.

Thanks Bama! I tried mine at 90 degrees and it seats easily enough but no way is that slide going all the way to the right on it's own. I will be interested to see some more feedback. It seems like too much pressure is required to get it to lock.

    Cheers!

@Frank- my dock has always been hard to seat. With use it has gotten better. I still have to make the extra effort to make sure the slide makes it over to the right. It's always short by 1/4 inch. I only had to reseat it once due to the keyboard not working.

Thanks Buzzman. That's a good point. Now with the slide all the way to the right, no issue with detection so hopefully it smooths out over time.

    Cheers!

Ditto on the 90 degrees. I also find that having on a solid surface as opposed to lap is very helpful. At first I was afraid to push it too hard but now I have a feel for it and works fine.

It's just the newness. The more you dock and undock it seems easier. The first couple days I thought I needed a hammer to get it down and latch all the way to the right!!

Like others have said, it definitely gets easier the more you dock and undock it. I was quite gentle with mine at first, but a good push is all it needs, which you can`t be too worried to give it
