Tf101 'paired but not connected' to Windows 7 laptop

OK, trying for a Bluetooth connection to my laptop. It works perfectly with the headset, so getting a little cocky here.
Feel so close, but no luck yet.
I installed the transmitter knob in the USB port, It is 'working correctly'
Been to the place deep in the Windows 7 control panel where the Bluetooth setting boxes are checked.
Did the discovery and the pairing ... the Tf reports that pairing with the laptop was successful.
Just not connected yet. Can anyone tell me what the next step is?

The wrench icon on the Tf gives only an option to rename the computer and an option to unpair
Just clicking on the name of the computer in the list causes it to light up, but otherwise does nothing.

On the Windows end, no idea what to do.

You need to start a service on the windows side for the TF to connect to. I have an older BT dongle and the software that came with it allows starting different services but the TF doesn't see them. The software I am using being old I guess it is not compatible. If I open the BT settings on the TF for my BT headsed I can see two services offered by the headset. I can connect to those services. I gave up the BT path and currently I'm using a mifi device which provide internet connection as well as file trensfer.

To pair the devices, In the TFs bluetooth settings, clicking on the PC name where is says "Paired but not connected paired mine.

Also, what are try trying to do?

    Audio or file transfer?

Ideally file transfer down the road, but my first mission is to see if -- and how-- it can be done.

In my case (win xp pro work laptop) I had to enable the option in the tf101 to be found via Bluetooth. Then make a connection AND transmit a file from laptop to tf101. Before I had sent the file, the connection was not persistent, after sending the file I can now always connect without enabling the BT option on the tf101 to allow it to be found. A bit difficult to get working, but now worksperfectly.

One thing though, with non standard file extensions, the tf101 appears to refuse the file. Renaming before sending and renaming back again after transfer is a drag / functional workaround.

Hummmm. Thank you very much. I wonder if a Bluetooth/computer connection is ever going to be convenient enough to make the effort worthwhile, but I will keep at it.

Just got mine to work. I am using an ASUS laptop. When I tried to connect the bluetooth icon appeared quite quickly on the taskbar and disappeared before I could click on it. Eventually I did click it and verified that the passkey matched, then I just followed the short mouse clicks, and now it works. The tablet has paired and is listed in devices on the laptop. I sent a small picture

Look up BlueSoleil (Not sure of the spelling). It's a complete bluetooth suite. The one that came with windows seems to be just the basic bluetooth functionalities, bluesoleil can do a lot more. You may have to do some tweaking to override the windows bluetooth, just make sure the one that's accessing the dongle is bluesoleil.

I was browsing my PC's harddrive from my K700i dumbphone via bluetooth long before i learned what a smartphones was. Likewise, the PC is also capable of browsing the phones contents via bluesoleil.
