does your sd card slot have problems sticking?

On mine the microsd card doesn't latch in unless I use a fingernail to push it in pretty deep. Just using a fingertip to push until I make contact with the chassis doesn't work, the card slides right back out. I'm wondering if this is designed this way to make sure the card doesn't stick out so you don't accidentally pop it back out, or if I have a defect.

Yes that is the way it is made. Keeps the card flush with the body so there is no accidental ejections.

Thanks guys. I was just wondering because at least on my laptops the sd card is easily inserted without having to use a fingernail perfectly lined up, but of course it sticks out a little bit. This is the first time I've ever used a microsd card, these things are so tiny! I have a feeling I'm going to lose a ton of these and they're not cheap.

brand new sdhc card not working in slot

Similar problem here - card will not latch properly regardless of how much I try to push it in with fingernail. But I found that if I hold the card pushed in, I can read and write to it. But I have to keep a finger on it or it ejects. Waiting to see if ASUS tech support has anything useful to say. Happy to see I'm not the only one with this issue

I push it in with my fingernail until it latches. It protrudes maybe 1/2 millimeter. No matter how hard I push with my finger, hand, etc. it will not "pop" out. But, if I use my fingernail to push, it ejects perfectly. I don't see how it could be accidentally ejected.

    Good luck, Jim

The same here but I don't think it is a problem.

    Asus Support call

They agreed it is a card reader malfunction and issued an RMA for return of the unit for repair. Not sure I will do that since I rarely use the card reader and they were talking about charging me because I've had it for more than a year. Doesn't matter that I never even tried to use the card reader for the first year.
