Lose purchased apps after a hard reset?

If I hard reset my TF back to defaults obviously I lose all my installed apps. But if I have purchased apps how does it work? If I install a purchased app will I have to pay again or will the Android market remember my purchased apps and install them without having to pay again? If not how can I backup my purchased apps? I want to root in order to change some things that are annoying me (Like the unbalanced speaker configuration). But if I root it looks like I will lose all my data (catch 22?).

Your paid apps are tied to your gmail account, therefore they'll be available for redownload once you do a restore and add your gmail account to your device. You won't have to pay again, no worries.

A couple of things. 1) if you factory reset you don't lose your purchased apps Wicked is correct but I've actually lost a couple of apps that I can't remember the name of and they are not showing up in the my apps list. They may have been free but I'm not sure. 2) If you root supposedly you will be able to backup your apps and data, thereby ending this issue.

Just be aware that it voids your warranty and you can't download new updates from Asus. There are probably ways around these 2 issues but I do not know what they are.
