Screen Off while on Dock and Open

Is there some way to get the screen to turn off while it is in the dock but open? I like to turn on a tv show over the network when I go sleep at night, but I want the screen to eventually timeout and turn off, which it doesn't right now. Anybody know how to do this?

I think the issue is that most video players override the screen timeout to keep the video playing. I am thinking you will need to find a player that has settings to allow the screen to timeout, but I am not sure if one exists.

I would prefer it to autotimeout so I don't have to press any buttons.

When the show finishes, the video player closes and it sits on the fie manager program (ES File Explorer is what I use) but since it is in the dock and open, it doesn't turn off...it dims a little, but it doesn't turn the screen off. Any other suggestions?

Not saying this will work but does the alarm function on the transformer have a timer feature that will turn off the unit after a specific amount of time? I have had some devices that worked this way. I don't have my Prime yet so I can't test this just curious if this would work. Just a thought albeit maybe not a good one.

I did a query for "Sleep Timer" in the market and came across this. Looks like it will do what you want.

That's great I'm giving it a shot right now but while it closes the currently open app, it does not turn my screen off However, is it normal for my tablet to never turn off when it is in the dock and open? Whether it's plugged in or not, it simply does not turn off. Is it that way for the rest of you?

Check Settings - Screen - Timeout

Mine is set to 5 minutes and it will kill the screen after 5 minutes unles a video app is keeping it on.

Mine is set to 2 minutes, but it doesn't matter....it just stays on indefinitely when it is in the dock
