    Managing your battery

I've read several of the threads about battery management, mainly following the dock battery drain issues faced by some people in the past, and it seems that the best way of preserving the life of these batteries is to not let them discharge below 50% (at least regularly), and to avoid long deep charges.

This puts the transformer in a bit of a strange situation, at least when it comes to the keyboard dock. Now, I use my dock fairly regularly, either for typing or propping up the tab, but also sometimes to charge the main battery. This is therefore draining the dock battery fairly significantly, while keeping the tab topped up. No bad thing particularly as its the tab battery that I want to preserve over the long run.

But with my normal usage it means that the dock is regularly dropping below 50% (infact, a lot of the time when attached and charging the tab battery, it will drain to levels significantly lower than this - 10% sometimes), and even in deep sleep it will charge the tab up to full (draining its own battery).

This can be negated by constant charging of the dock, but it dilutes the longevity (and functionality) of the whole thing. I like it being ready to go whenever I need it, without being concerned about cycling the batteries every day.

So my question really is, what do you do? Do you constantly charge the thing (tab, dock or both) when not using it, or do you not mind the batteries running into the red?

This may have been picked up in another thread, but with the number of posts on battery drain I thought I'd ask a seperate question.

I let my battery go down to 10 to 12 % before I recharge and I get a good 15 hours per day.
Batteries by desighn are meant to be used at full potential.

Batteries by design are meant to be used at full potential.

See, so do I, and I get the same sort of results too. But my concern is that I'm damaging the dock battery by doing so (the tab rarely gets down to this sort of level as its being charged by the dock).

Following this then, does the dock have a cut off point where it stops charging the tab? Or does it just run down to zero before it stops?

I haven't noticed it do this tbf, but most of the time I send the dock off to be charged when it reaches this 10% mark, so I've not tested it.
