using an android, iphone, & blackberry as hotspots for new asus transformer prime
want to buy 3 of these for xmas but can i use the tablet with these 3 phones as the hot spot? EASILY!!!!
-
simple answer is yes... so long as the phone suppofts wifi tethering....My Samsung GSII does (ANDROID) and I use it all the time with my TF. I know the Iphone does but don't understand why anybody would want one, as for the blackberry, well it should.
When you set up a wifi hotspot, the phone will transmit its own SSID,simply connect your TF to it. Next time you set up tethering, your TF should just. simply connect

Hi Debbie, welcome to the forum,
The iPhone probably won't be a problem and the others may not be but the issue of using the phone for access depends on the specific model. Many Android and BB phones can be set up to tether the TF to it. Beware of the fact that the phone would probably need to also be on a tether plan with the service provider at additional cost.
When it comes time, if tethering is going to be super important, you might check with the sales people at the cell phone provider.

iPhone works as a hotspot so long as your carrier allows you to. In the US you have to pay for tethering, or jailbreak it to do it. It works great for WiFi and Bluetooth tethering.

That depends on your carrier, and if you want to try to Jailbreak your iPhone.
If you are in the US, both Verizon and AT&T make you pay for tethering unless you Jailbreak and install a tetherning app from Cydia. Some carriers (I believe in Canada for sure) do not care what you do with your allocated bandwidth and allow you to tether.
Older phones (iPhone 3GS and older) do not allow WiFi tethering, only Bluetooth if I recall. Newer ones can do WiFi tethering.

Thank you & forgive me for not giving you any info whatsoever! I have the iphone 4,ATT unlimited data plan, not really wanting to jail break at this time but may be willing in the future
I have the prime on preorder.
Thanks again,

If you did want to tether through AT&T I think you would lose your unlimited data plan when you switched.
