    Inside the dock-photos

Hi, I've just succumbed to curiousity and opened up the dock to my transformer,
    1. screws under 2 of the rubber feet (by hinge).
    2. as above.
3.Back is underside of KB, with touchpad (green circuit board).
4.general view, dock hinge bottom centre.
    5. touch pad.

there are 22 pics all told, any one want them posting?

Not as much space as i expected inside.

When i first saw the dock had usb ports I was hoping to see 1.8" or 2.5" usb drives disassembled and fitted in to the dock for extra storage

It is right in the center of the bottom. Check Pic #4. It has the recycle symbol and you can see it says Li-Ion (the n is cut off by the black cover)

hi do you have any photos of which type of connector and the location of it in the dock?
looking at the above photos there does not seam much room to fit an extra connector

    regards paul

Here is the link to the post on xda on how to do it. Also, I believe this guy will mod your dock if you send it to him if you are not a DIYer

Just curious, how are the connections from the pad to the dock made? I expected to see a flat ribbon cable? Are the hinge pins hollow thus giving a wiring path?

DaveL - Looking at picture 4 of 5 above, there is a round grey cable running to the left side of the picture and into the hinge. I believe this to be the connector for the dock. That side of the dock must have a spot for the cable to enter into the hinged area.

EDIT: I looked at the pictures from XDA, and there are actually 2 cables, one going into each side of the dock hinge. Here is an overall showing one cord to either side:

Closeup of the one on the right hand side of the dock as you would normally look at it:

Closeup of the one on the left hand side:

And finally one showing the hole on the side of the hing for the left hand side:

This is helpful information on how to disassemble the dock. When I apply pressure to the dock just to the left of the touchpad, or at that area from the back, the case pops and deforms a little. When I release the pressure it pops again back into place, no harm done. I'm thinking that a little judiciously applied foam core inside the dock would stiffen up the casing and prevent this. Any thoughts?
