Please advise me on the best OS for my TF101. ICS or Jellybean?

    Hi.

I'm one of the unlucky guys that have a Un-updateable TF101.

It just wont update whatever I try.

The only way to Maybe install a new ICS rom is to completely wipe the tablet back to factory defaults, and then it MIGHT pick up the downloaded rom that I put in there.
    Otherwise, no chance.

With this in mind, do you recommend I wipe my tablet once more, and try to install the latest ICS rom?
Or go for the jellybean rom?

Not even sure the jelly bean would work.

Plus, quite importantly, is Jellybean even any better?
It maybe worse, incomplete, less stable, buggy ect?

I'd be happy to have a up to date complete, bug free OS on my tf101, and I hopefully wont need to bother updating it again, as its so hard/impossible for me to do so.
    Thanks

It depends on what you want.
I assume you are on 9.2.1.27 from Asus.

I found the last stock ICS ROM from Asus very stable if a little slow. It is still my standby- I can go back to it in a flash I did root using PERI http://www.transformerforums.com/for...-firmware.html which gave me some freedom to play, and after several other tries I've come to like the TeamEOS 4.2, which really wants TWRP recovery(get it from Goo Manager at the play store)
Do follow directions though and read a lot before you do anything! That said, here is a place to start [ROM][4.2 JB MR1] Team EOS 4 *JELLYBEAN MR1* Nightlies -- TF101 - xda-developers

Another good read is Frederuco's Guide to Root and ROM the TF101

That's about all I know. Good luck!

    Thanks for the info.

A wealth of knowledge thats much appreciated.

I'm just a bit dubios to mess around with my tablet too much, as its so bad at updating as it is.

If i can find the 'best' Rom currently available for it, I'll try installing that and then leave it alone perhaps for good.

Would you say jellybean is even woth all the extra fiddling to get on my tablet?
Perhaps the 'extra fiddling' will actually fix my update problem tho....

    questions questions...

JB is faster and smoother. If you want a good solid ROM, check Team EOS 4

I gave up waiting on an official update to my TF101 a few weeks ago. I read Frederuco's guide, rooted mine and went with the liquidsmooth 4.1.2 Rom. I could not be happier. It solved all the lag issues I had been having, and so much more. I have used cyanogenmod on other devices and was tempted to go that route again, but the liquidsmooth has better WiFi handling. I have also heard great things about team eos, but have not used them.

I would strongly recommend doing the root and Rom. It just makes sense. Other than adding a couple of Asus widgets back, I have done no fiddling with it.

Everything is tradeoffs. You still haven't told us what you are 'stuck' on. You probably will never see an update past 9.2.1.27 from Asus. If you don't have that, there is help available and it works. So go to settings, scroll down, hit about tablet and tell us what it says. Or better yet, take a screenshot for us.

    Thanks all.

    Ok, heres my details.

I got the TF101 about a year ago.

    It had problems updating.
I managed to get an update in after resetting it to factory setting and then adding the update rom onto the tablet directly, then hoping it detected it and updated.

I managed to get it updated, the rom was about 6 months old .. so i guess it was a july 2012 release.

I've been ok with that rom, but have now reset the tablet again, and want to try a newer rom..

Its so annoying and unreliable to update my tablet as it simply doe not detect any updates.
Thats why im asking for the best current rom...
    Whether its ics, jellybean, etc..
I dont care, as long as i get a stable, smooth, fast rom..
Then hopefully i wont ever have to update again.

    As for Jellybean...
after reading the threads in this forum, it still seems to need a fair bit of ironing out.
Lots of issues with camera etc.
So maybe a ICS would be better.
    Thanks

I left you my recommendation. Most Dev's are not updating ICS. You should look at a few different roms and make a choice. If you have the KB dock then you may want to read all you can about EOS 4

I do have a keyboard dock.

Please can u link me the latest EOS 4 ROM?

I found a link on xda developers website, ut it says i need a 'android recovery' in order to install it.

I dont know what one or where to look.

    thanks
