Boot loop. Hopefully can be fixed.

Hey folks. I got a used TF101 B50 in yesterday. As soon as I turned it on, it gave me a prompt for a firmware update, and I went ahead with it. No problems. Then I found out .21 couldn't be rooted yet, so I followed the steps listed here. Worked like a charm. The tablet booted to .11, no issues.

Then I tried to root it using the correct version of ViperMOD. Bootlooped. Won't do a thing. Tried NVFlash, nothing. Tried the data wipe, nothing. Tried the recovery image, and got the dead Android picture. My PC will recognize it in Device Manager when I see the Asus Eee logo, then drops it when it reboots. The PC won't recognize it as a drive during that time.

So I'm kind of stuck! I wasn't able to work on it too terribly long last night either. While I don't have the know how of you Devs, I'm not unfamiliar with Android either. Rooted/reflashed/unbricked/sbf'ed my Droid X, and tinkered with all sorts of roms with it. Rooted my Galaxy S2. Reflashed my fiancees Incredible when she was having software issues, fixed my coworkers Eris when he had software issues, etc.

One stumbling block might be that it does not have Clockwork Mod. Just didn't get the chance since I had it shipped to my job, and was working all day. I didn't worry so much about a backup, since there was nothing I wanted to save on it, (Just Comixology) and hopefully that wasn't a mistake in hindsight.

I won't be home for another few hours still in case anyone needs any more info, then it's off to job #2, but if anyone has an idea, I'm happy to hear it, and I'll respond ASAP.

Thanks in advance! Hopefully I'm not SOL. I've got no issues with sending it to Asus or to a trusted Dev, but I just wanted it as a comics reader for my honeymoon here in a few weeks. Them's the breaks though.

    Welcome!

I don't have a fix but I'm moving this to the development forum. You'll get more help there.

I am somewhat familiar with Linux. There always seems to be something I have an issue with, no matter how to the letter I follow documentation, haha. I've got Mint on dual boot, so I'll give that a whirl tonight. Else, I have a friend who is proficient with Ubuntu.
