Are there any obvious advantages in rooting the tf101?

I have rooted my phone for many reasons, but never occured to me to root my tf101. I searched around a little, and wondered if there is even a reason why would one root his tablet.

Just wanted to ask what are the benefits of rooting the TF101?

    tnx for replies.

The benefits of rooting are one by one disappearing see this thread http://www.transformerforums.com/for...maybe-why.html

One of the original reasons was to use Titanium Backup, solved by ASUS including an app backup app. Another was to enable use of some VPN software such as AnyConnect but I believe Cisco as a version now that doesn't require it.

I do need to mention that a huge number of problems reported on this forum originated with having been rooted. As that thread says, you must first have a good reason, then do your research.

I am waiting for my guarantee to expire so I can Root to disable all the build in apps that I don't use to speed up my Transformer and reduce the use of memory. Also you can overclock your CPU, wich seems like a big advantage if you don't mind the extra battery usage.

I have rooted mine and I don;t see any advantage of doing so. Only problems.

For those who did not root-- you do know that under ICS, there is the ability to disable the built-in applications? Go to Application Manager, click the "All" tab at the top, and scroll down to your least-favorite bloatware app, and click DISABLE-- answer "yes" to the warning, and there you go!

If you've let these things update themselves? Uninstall all the updates to the bloatware first-- then disable it.

Once disabled, it will not auto-load in the background, nor will you see it in the normal App drawer. In fact? Under the Application Manager-- the disabled ones now appear at the very bottom of the list. Nice.

It's a feature of ICS, or so I was told...

... and yes, you can re-enable it if you like.

Wow, awesome because this was the main reason why I wanted to root!
I disabled almost everything but some stock apps can't be disabled, such as Library and App Backup.
My TF101 is faster now, really snappy!

But don't disable ZSProvider, because it will make the interface buggy.

Just remember this post if other things start not working correctly. Make a note!

My wife bought a tf101 that was rooted. The owner installed Onskreen Cornerstone on it. I don't know any other apps or benefits of rooting. I just know that Cornerstone is a must for anyone with a tablet. I only wish that could be available without the need to root.
