Thanks Kevchaps. I've got through step 8 OK after which you say DO NOT REBOOT. But when I try to complete step 9 I get an error "device not found". I've tried PDANet to connect the tablet to the computer but no go. I can't see any way other than rebooting the device to connect the computer to the tablet. Any advice please.

Edit: first part was invalid, I would totally disable PDAnet, it will probably interfere with what you are doing.

    Code:
Reboot by holding vol down and power for a few seconds, until splashscreen pops up with white letters
Wait for "wipe data/android" screen, choose "wipe data" and reboot the same as before, except
After the splashscreen comes up with white letter, press vol up immediately, which boots into recovery
    Install zip from sdcard
    Choose zip from sdcard
    Us_epad-user bla bla bla
    Yes to install
Reboot system using cwm reboot option
Hi, After doing this step, my TF101 rebooted with black screen, and do nothing. What should I do?

just another confirmation that this guide got me out of the "recovery bootloop" pickle.

i did not ever reflash the original firmware though.... these 2 steps were most important for me...

    8) Now, on the tf, in cwm, navigate with vol buttons for up/down, power to select
    Install zip from sdcard/
    Choose zip from sdcard/
    Download
    Rogue xm bla bla bla
    Install; yes
    DO NOT REBOOT

    9) In cmd line, type;
    "Adb shell" (again, no quotes)
    Type "echo boot | dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 bs=1 seek=0" The 0 are zeroes
    Type "exit"

after i pushed the different CWM on there and installed i then ran the echo boot command and rebooted.... fixed.
thanks for the time spent in collecting this info and putting it together.... REALLLY HELPED A BROTHA OUT!

    Thank you!

    Very nice sir.

Just wanted to say thank you. Your guide helped me get a friends TF101 with the keyboard back into usable shape. The version of CWM he had on there kept booting without going to the OS rom. I was already partly through you steps as I had the android-sdk already installed so, it was very straight forwards without difficulty.

Just wanted to mention a small detail, not trying to nit-pick The the section I reference below in the quote, the word 'download' should be 'Download' to get the files to go to the right path. Or at least on this device.

    Now it should look like this in cmd;

    C:\android-sdk\platform-tools\ adb push "c:\us_epad-user-9.2.1.11.zip"
    Those quotes stay put.
Now type " /sdcard/download/" (no quotes) Put a space before typing
    ...

    7) Now, use the same cmd (adb push), and same technique(windows explorer, drag file)to push the rogue xm file to sdcard/download/
I've got a couple Q's that I would appreciate your opinion on.
It seems like I could use the same approach to restore the recovery back to the stock ASUS recovery correct?

I've read other threads elsewhere that have not been very helpful but, did get what appears to be what someone termed as the "leaked" ASUS stock recovery ROM.

Could you provide a little more detail around this command?
    echo boot | dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p3 bs=1 seek=0

    Best Regards,

Leaked stock recovery ROM is the entire rom. The only way I know of to get the stock recovery is to flash the stock ROM either through CWM or through NVFlash.

I'm not sure entirely what that command does, but it has to do with the memory block that holds the recovery. It is basically telling the system to not boot into the recovery as far as I have been able to figure out.
