    Question 1-Click Rootfor Transformer?

I'm receiving an ASUS Transformer in the next week or 2 and want to root it.

I own a rooted OG Droid so I'm not unfamiliar with the process, but I'm curious if there is a confirmed reliable "1-Click Root" method available at this point in time?

There is no true one-click root for the TF at this time. I am waiting for one myself. This is this easiest procedure I have found so far:

Just bought an ASUS Eee Pad Transformer? Eager to get Superuser installed and root built-in? No problem. Look no further. We’ve got a tutorial set-up below (past the break) that’ll get you rooted thanks to mashi over at XDA-Developers.

    Download

    Transformer Root Guide

    1. Extract the package from above
    2. Power off your ASUS Transformer
    3. Press and hold Volume Up and Power buttons until it asks you to install drivers
    4. Install USBPCDriver
    5. Now your Transformer is on APX mode
    6. Double click the “root.bat” installation file from the extracted package
      • If you don’t need ClockworkMOD Recovery, at this point hold down the power button to restart the device. Then, head to step 8.
      • If not, continue to step 7.

    7. Double click the “cwm.bat” installation file from the extracted package. Then, hold down the power button to turn the device off and back on.
    8. Turn on USB Debugging (Menu >> Applications >> Check enable “USB Debugging”)
    9. Double click the “root_app.bat” installation file from the extracted package.
      • This adds Superuser and the “su” binary to your device.

Thank you so much, Garemlin. I think that's the easiest way to try rooting my new TF toy. The sad part is I cannot download the tf_rootkit_31 file. Could someone please upload the file onto Mediafire for me?

    Thanks in advance.

So what can be done with a rooted tablet? Given that we have Android 3.1.. what do you gain from rooting? I rooted my OG Droid to put 2.3.3 and get the free wifi hot spot capability and overclock it a bit. I don't really want to OC my TF though.

Many advantages to rooting your tablet. The biggest is to run root only apps like cache cleaner, adfree and back-up programs that back up your apps plus their data. Then there is custom ROMS and themes as well as full recovery.

All this plus the sheer amount of access having root offers you. It's like unlocking the full potential of your device.

Well, I think I should say this again. I am now living in China but I'm not Chinese, so, I need to find everything here in English for my lovely new Android toy.

But where I am living now, it blocks almost everything nice ; Facebook, Twitter, Google, YouTube (Yeah, I can't see all those tutorial videos, too... Sad but true.).... A lot of those upload and download websites are blocked, too, included multiupload.

So, here I am again asking if someone would kindly help me upload the tf_rootkit_31.zip file onto mediafire.com so I can start rolling.

I've been spending so many days searching and reading about Android that I am not so used to. I was so happy that I found this website though.
