    Non-Andriod OS on the Transformer

I remember seeing a different tablet that allowed the owner to choose Android or Windows 7 when booting up. Any idea if the Transformer can/will offer this? Wondering if the hardward can support Windows 7...

The reason I ask is that I have a few Windows specific applications that my business can not live without... but I love the idea of using the Andriod OS for eerything else.

    Thoughts????

Putting a bloat filled win7 on it might work but it would be too slow and defeat the purpose of a lightweight OS.

Would the Asus "Cloud" offer anyway to have my Windows 7 Apps on a desktop and let me access them remotely?

That sounds complex. I say get a windows based netbook if having windows is a must.

even if you could dual boot to win 7 it would not be optimized for touch.

Windows 7 doesn't support NVIDIA chip so it will not be possible. I have heard certain reports that it will soon be possible to be able to dual boot with a software Ubuntu is making that supports multitouch etc... I just cant think of what the version name is

There are tablets that do have dual-boot Android and Win7. One is by Viewsonic, which just recently (like 3 days or so ago), announced that Froyo was going to be available shortly for it (it sold with Android 1.6).

There's also news of Gigabyte releasing a dual boot tablet later this year, but I haven't seen much more information about it.

As for whether the Transformer will support it, highly unlikely. For one thing, Win7 requires a minimum of 16Gb of hard drive space for the 32-bit version (and 20Gb for the 64-bit). Even with the 32Gb Transformer, thats not a lot of space left. One option (though I don't know if it'll work), is to see if you can get a flash drive that has a basic version of Windows on it that you can plug into the dock. However, most of the information I've run into for bootable flash drives have been more linux-specific rather than Windows.

Windows 7 doesn't run on ARM processors, so no, it isn't possible. Plus: yuck! Windows?

Windows 8. You know Microsoft wants a slice of the tablet pie.

As always, they're late to the party, but yes indeed Windows 8 is slated (forgive the pun) to run on ARM
