ICS Includes Native Stylus Support! Need Detailed answer...

I read ICS Includes Native Stylus Support! all around.

Does this mean that any stylus u buy (even the 5$ one from the mall) will work on the TF101 once the ICS is installed?

Or will I still have to look after an Adonit Jot?

    tnx for replies.

Every capacitive stylus will work ok on the TF101 even with Honeycomb, including the low price ones you can find around. The difference between the cheap rubber tip stylus and the Adonis Jot is that the rubber tip is usually at the very least 4-6 mm large, lowering its precision if you want to do something more than just tap or swipe the screen while the Adonis Jot has a capacitive tip & a transparent plastic disc instead of the rubber tip, meaning you can see where the center of the disc will touch and have more precise feedback. The thing you really want to check is that the stylus must be a capacitive one.

That said (I thought it could've been helpful since from your post I assumed right now you think no cheap capacitive styli will work on the TF101), I have no information whatsoever about the native stylus support from ICS. Hope it helped anyway!

Agreed that any capacitive stylus will work.

For another type of stylus to work it will require different hardware (touchscreen) from my knowledge.

Not sure where you heard this about any stylus will work, but I believe it will only be capacitive stylus.

I'm almost certain Frederuco is correct. The big deal with the new functionality will make it easier to draw with finer detail.

As I noted in another thread on the same topic, ICS is doing this for HTC Flyer and Samsung Note, that use a digital pen but currently can only support it through the apps.

I read about the native stylus support in ICS also, adding features like pressure sensitivity. Unfortunatley the article I read said that it would need manufacturers to add the appropriate hardware for support. This most likely means the stylus would need some electronics in it and/or a digitizer on the screen (like the HTC Flyer). There is no way to register true pressure readings on our current screens with a capacitive stylus.
