    Advice on headphones

What kind of headphones give the best audio experience? I'm using a cheap pair I paid a couple of dollars for in the meantime. Even with the TF volume button at the max, the sound is pretty weak.

I've always liked IEMs because they block out most of the outside noise, enabling me to hear whatever I'm playing clearer. Some people find them uncomfortable though.

You can also use bluetooth headphones. Advantage : no wires, no volume issue. Disadvantage : needs batteries, presumably impact on battery life of tablet.

Do you care about the microphone?

Played around with the microphone when I got the unit but the TF had a hard time dealing with my English.. I don'treally expect to use voice input much specially in company. As a recording machine is more likely.

I love my Skull Candy 50/50 that have a microSD and iPhone volume controls (which don't really work with the TF) but are awesome 'phones with kicking bass and they remove a lot of ambient noise with their rubber earbud cups. Their Ink'd Mic'd are great too and much cheaper but the same awesome sound and a microphone.

Skull Candy and Sennheiser headphones are what I use. Both deliver really good bass and the sound quality is great.

You didn't specify a price but...
Sennheiser, Grado, Shure, Etymotic are all good brands.

I'll put gum in your hair if you go for Bose.

LOL - Amazing how many people are suckered by their marketing.

I use a pair of Sennheiser Bluetooth with noise cancelling. Volume is fine with the TF. Not cheap, but I'd recommend them in a heartbeat.

The microphone is useful for Skype / Google Talk. Not so much for voice input (at least to me).

With mic, the only one I have is the Klipsch ProMedia. Without mic, in the reasonable price range, I have the Klipsch S2 and Sennheiser CX300. I'm not sure if the current batch of CX300 live up to their reputation - the first set I bought were fantastic, and the second set bought a year later mediocre (due to poorer build quality).

Yeah, you're right.. once I get around to those apps..
some of those earphones cost a pretty penny, but you get what you pay for i suppose.

To a certain extent. For IEMs (no microphone), the $20 - $25 range can get you a decent set. After that, price climbs quickly, diminishing returns.
