    hand-made tablet sleeve, a recommendation...

i have seen some questions on the forum about cases and sleeves for the transformer. i have found something i like and thought i might share it with the community.

i've had this crocheted sleeve for a week now and have been quite satisfied with it. i have always preferred non-zippered simple coverage for my gadgets. it is nice also to support artists who hand-make their wares and thus my turning to etsy.com to clothe my transformer and my 15" macbook pro.

i found an artist there who goes by the name 'urartist' in chicago who crochets sleeves for a whole slew of devices, among other endeavors. i liked what i saw and asked if she could make something for my transformer also, since she had no listing for one. she was very accommodating in answering this question and many others, demonstrating much professionalism and courtesy and friendliness.

the price point [~$30 or so] is what you'd expect for hand-made goods and most other tablet cases in general. i received the item one week after ordering, which is likely fast for crocheting. i have used them constantly for a week with a lot of sliding in and out and the sleeves have retained their original shape. they are thick and soft and feel like a good amount of padding. i even use my macbook pro sleeve as a seat cushion from time to time. i was concerned with the yarn interacting with my naked screen at first, but have so far seen nothing worth worrying about: there have been no instances of scratching or marking of any sort.

i've been very satisfied with both my sleeves and would heartily recommend supporting hand-made and checking out urartist on etsy [http://www.etsy.com/people/urartist] to anyone who likes minimalist unique sleeves that look nice and feel sturdy.
