Another Battery Draining Issue | SOLUTION FOUND READ LAST POST|

Hi, I've bought the Asus Transformer last week and bought the dock 5 days ago.
I did the 8 hour charge on both and the battery life was amazing. I used it pretty heavily and it lasted me until yesterday.
Yesterday, I charged my dock for the second time I had it until it was 100%, and then I left it plugged in for a while. The thing is, ever since then I've used it for an hour or so of fairly light use. Right now the battery level is 15%.

I first noticed that the battery died overnight by about 30% and continued to die, even when I didn't use it. I'm wondering if this is the same thing others are experiencing or not. I just don't get why it was amazing the first charge and now it's draining too fast.

Latest Asus Updates on both tablet and dock, too.

Exclamation That is not the problem...

I'm aware of that issue. I do not have a faulty dock, because the keyboard does not wake up the tablet when power saving mode is on. If I looped an hd video on the tablet I'm sure I'll come around somewhere around 16 hours of playback on battery. The problem is that the battery drains very fasst when the tablet is DOCKED and IDLE. I decided to do some tests. When the dock was at 3% I left it docked overnight. Sure enough, in the morning the transformer would not turn on at all. Using CPU Spy I have noticed that the tablet never goes idle when it is docked. When it is not docked, it goes into deep sleep mode. I'm sure ohers have noticed this. As of now, there is no point carrying around this tablet docked like a laptop, because of the battery drain.

This is not a hardware issue. If both batteries drain quickly whenever it is docked (tablet battery drains quickly when dock is depleted and docked) than this is a software issue. For some reason, the tablet does not want to go into "deep sleep" mode, as seen in CPU Spy.

I don't think I am the only one that noticed this.

Most of the battery drain I have noticed on my tablet/dock is linked to apps keeping WiFi awake.

My remedy is to put the TF in airplane mode when I put it down. I have been using the Auto Airplane Mode app by DON and it helps me trememdously.

Try just putting your TF in airplane mode and seeing if it helps your battery life. This will determine if it is indeed an app keeping WiFi awake.

Some troublesome apps that I have noticed that keep it awake:
    Skype (when signed in)
    Facebook
    imo.im
    Talk

Some apps that wake the WiFi to sync from time to time:
    GMail
    Email
    Market
    Twitter
    Google+

Lightbulb Battery Draining !! SOLUTION !!

I have found the solution for my battery drain issue. Posting because maybe this will solve other people's problems.

When not using the tablet be sure to:

    1. Have "Keyboard Dock Power Saving Mode" On
    2. Turn on Airplane Mode
    3. IMPORTANT: Turn off the touchpad by pressing the 4th shortcut key at the top of the keyboard.

I have learned that even if power saving mode is on, my keyboard does not wake up the tablet, but touching the touchpad does wake it up. That's where all the battery drain is going.

Enjoy your Transformer how it should be enjoyed

Glad you found this...but those things have been known procedures for some time....at least since since the previous version of the firmware was released.

Hmm. I have mine updated to the newest firmware. but still the trackpad when enabled will wake up the tablet. Keep in mind that this is not the keyboard, but the trackpad.

Also, the first two steps i was aware of, but they did not solve my problem, as my keyboard dock passed the wake-up test. But after disabling the trackpad, my battery drain issues disappeared.

It sounds like you are OK on the hardware side based on the last firmware.

Is this report based on the newest firmware that just came out over the last few days?

The reason I ask is that battery-related changes were included that should address your remaining item.
