    Question Usb Charger/Power Plug

Hi, I have just had to have my Transformer replaced by Ebuyer, (Dock Not Charging, ) and proceeded to charge up the new one, when charged, I removed the plug from the socket only to find that the Earth Pin on the plug was still in the socket! Has anybody else had this problem ? and what would be your suggestions for a replacement :-Asus or Ebuyer?

I would probably try Ebuyer first as their after-sales service is generally pretty good.

Wow, that is not a good sign! Hopefully the retailer gets this sorted out quickly. What type of plug was it? I assume this was not the US plug as it does not have a third prong.

OP's location is UK so I guess this is the 3 rectangular pins.

There does seem to be a number of issues with the UK power adapter. Not good...

Ahh, good point. I know some of the early adopters in the UK ended up with the US plug and had to get a travel adapter to use it there.

Hi to all that replied and thank's , I contacted ebuyer and spoke to one of there technical bods, and he asked me to send photographs of the broken socket which i have done, on looking at the plug more closely i found the earth pin is actually hollow, with two holes in it ? its a really cheaply made plastic item, I am not very impressed with the qualityof it at all, I am waiting to find out if I have got to send the complete tablet back to ebuyer, or just the plug, but they have told me that they cannot get just a plug from Asus, and are trying to source an aftermarket item, I await developments. ........ Latest update:- Ebuyer have stated that they cannot get just a replacement socket from Asus and have asked me to return the complete tablet for a full refund!

Mine is very hard to remove also, try using the palm of you hand pushing from the non-prong side. There is an arrow and the word push to guide you but it is very hard to read.

If this does not work try using the handle of a screwdriver.

I received an Eee Pad Transformer for christmas today, very excited, but unfortunately it came with a US power adapter and I'm in the UK.

Could some provide some advice on whether it is best for me to purchase the official UK power adapter from ASUS, or whether I would be fine just buying a US to UK travel adapter and using the US power adapter that was supplied?

The official UK power adapter is 25 from ASUS, whereas I could pick up a travel adapter for just 2 or 3.

Could it damage the Eee Pad to continually use a US power adapter in the UK? Would there be a difference in charging time?

Thanks in advance for any help, really looking forward to setting this thing up!

I was in the UK this fall and used a $3 travel plug just fine. The power adapter is rated for 110/220 V and 50/60 Hz so it will be fine. If you notice a slight electrical buzz when touching the metal bezel, flip the plug in the adapter and it should go away. The US plug is not polarized.

    Cheers
