Flashing red is good...its one stage of the charging process (only partially charged) - but it means it IS charging.

Flashing red means it is low on charge for the dock battery only. Green is full charge, and Amber is in the middle I believe (going from memory here)

If using a USB, it may not indicate a charge is happening, but it will charge. I have seen 1-4% charge per hour (tablet only) via USB with the screen off which is painfully slow.

Myself, I made a backup charger and took a USB car charger and removed all of the components from the PC board inside and then connected it so that the USB plug has Ground to pin 1 and the +12 VDC is connected to Pin 4 of the USB socket. Changed the fuse to a 1.5 Amp (stock charger is 15 VDC x 1.2 Amp = 18 Watts, DIY charger is 12 VDC x 1.5 Amp = 18 Watts) and I can charge in the car now without needing an AC inverter.

The charging process is the same with USB or the AC Adapter, in terms of the LED light indicator - its just that the USB charge timeframe is very slow, as compared to the normal AC Adapter rate. Frequent USB charging is not recommended, but its an option if nothing else works.

From the User Manual - the LED colors and meaning:

well, i got home from work and everything is charged up! I think last night when I first plugged it in, it was flashing red, but there was no lightening bolt on the battery monitors....maybe i didnt give it enough time.

Great news....glad you're back in business.

One thing you might want to consider - a backup AC adapter. I bought one ($28) since I travel alot.

They are starting to appear in more supply on vendor sites - just Google "ASUS Transformer AC Adapter" (shopping results).

Also, if you are in the US, Office Depot has them in stock at many stores for about $30 USD.
