    TF101 won't Boot

So, yesterday I was using my TF101 (B50) at work. I am running Ice Cream Sandwich on an stock tablet (I followed the advice of Leeshor, I think, for updating to ICS). I had 40% battery on the keyboard and 98% on the tablet. I came home and the transformer would not boot up.

I have checked to see if they charger was working. When plugged into the keyboard the light is flashing indicating that it is being charged.

I have done, to my knowledge, all combinations of power button and power button with volume down button. It does not show anything on screen. I have heard a clicking sound on occasion but not always.

When the tablet is plugged into my PC it sounds that a USB device has been inserted. I can press the power button and the PC will sound that the USB device has been removed.

I am presently letting the tablet discharge completely (without the dock on) to see if that will help reset something. Does any one know how to discharge the tablet quicker.

Does anyone have any other suggestions or is an RMA in order?

I am thinking that you may have it in APX mode (which allows you to connect from a computer to transfer files via ADB but the screen is black)

Try a long press on the power button for 30 seconds. Release, then a 3 second press of the power button.

If that does not work take a rip through the "Charging & Boot Issues" link in my signature for all of the other tips.

I tried the 30 second, 3 second recommendation, but no affect. Any suggestions on quickly draining the battery?

    Leave it on.

Also, if you take a flashlight and shine it on the screen, is anything visible? It is possible the backlight went out.

But if the screen doesn't work, how do I know if it is on; Other than plugging it into the pc and making sure the usb sound is made and then unplugging.

I've checked with a flashlight and nothing can be seen.

I'll keep you posted on what the final result is

What happens if you plug it in to the PC , open device manager, check under USB, is there an nvidia recovery usb shown there?

When I plug in it loads as an unknown device. I had been trying to figure out that problem, which had started before ICS. I have followed all the advice for that problem with no luck

I am still waiting for the device to completely discharge. I can still induce the clicking sound when holding down the power button.

Still waiting for reply from ASUS. Reported the problem description on a weekend.

I have had the tablet "on" (since I can't truly know how on it really is) for the past 2 days. I can still induce the clicking sound when trying to turn it on/off (I assume this means that there is still a charge to the tablet.

I should also note that when I attach the tablet to the keyboard there is no indication of the keyboard discharging (no flashing light). The keyboard has charged completely.

I had my backlight go out and I was unable to see anything on the screen until I typed my PIN on the keyboard and logged in. Then with a flashlight in a dark room I could see the screen. Also, if you have a mini-HDMI to plug into a TV you might be able to see it. Might be worth a try so you can at least backup before you ship it back. Mine is in RMA process now.

I am not using a PIN I am just using the slide version to unlock the system. I have nothing to loose on my system since most of my information is on box, drop box or SD card. I don't have a tv that has HDMI (still have a CRT tv, I have young kids).

Keep me posted on the RMA process and how it goes.
