    TF101 random rebooting

In the past day, my beloved TF101 has to rebooted twice on its own. Both times it happened when I wasn't using it, so I can't I pin it down to any app I was using at the time. The first time it was shut down, so technically it wasn't a reboot. The second time this morning, it had rebooted on its own. The recent apps list was cleared and CPU spy reported about an hour of runtime.

That said, I rooted my TF101 about 3 weeks ago and have been wanting to unroot to prepare for the arrival of ICS anyway. I've thought of backing up of all my apps on an sd card and wiping everything clean. My tablet has been getting sluggish anyway and a fresh start seems in order. Kind of like a Windows reinstall but only after 2 1/2 months of use.

I did the nachoroot and frankly need to reread some of my old threads to see what the steps are to unrooting again. I recall having fewer steps than others because I never installed cwm recovery.

Any ideas about tracking down my rebooting before I take the drastic step of unrooting and/or rebuilding my TF101?

Its a known problem. Not limited to the tf either, it seems to be an occasional bug across other android tablets, also.

No known cause, or cure, I'm afraid. Most people don't even realise it has happened unless they notice the ramdumpxxxxxxxxxx.log files in file manager.

Its happened 7 times to me in 4 months, but 5 of those were in a few days in November - no clue as to why, but it's no biggy

Just to ease your mind my also does this. I have setting on my desk and stop using it, it goes to sleep and than out of the blue a reset. I guess the good thing is it clears out the recently used apps for me!

My mind might be eased, but I've been gone all day, and found my TF101 has shut down yet again. This is happening suddenly, as of yesterday, and way too often.

I'll keep an eye on it, but my gut tells me this is NOT normal, at least not when it happens this often. I'd rather get to the bottom of it and find out the cause. Perhaps an unstable app?

Ok I tried something obvious. I cold booted. I've been playing with a lot of different launchers and a lot of drastic changes within one launcher. So a cold boot couldn't hurt.

It hasn't shut down since. Fingers crossed!

OP - sorry, I figured you had already done a cold boot. I do them every now & again. It keeps the tf free flowing - mine hasn't been turned off for 4 months!

As far as apps go, Google Earth has been known to cause the problem, but not for everyone. If you do find the cause - you will be the first

I haven't had a shut down or reboot since the cold boot. Not sure why I forgot about to do it before partying on here first. The boss's boss want to see my Android tablet, bit it has shut down and took so long to boot he lost interest. That out me in a desperate frame of mind, lol!

My relationship with honeycomb us I've hate. Really looking forward to ICS on the TF101, but willing to wait for Asus to work out the bugs first. I've read the boot time has dropped significantly.

Glad it is sorted out, I think since there have been so many app updates with getting ready for ICS it is good practice to do a cold reboot after getting the updates. This as least gives you a good starting point.

    Enjoy
